Jekyll Island should not receive any funds from taxpayers.

点评：We played the Indian Mounds course. The conditions of the greens were horrible. One green on the back nine had no turf, that’s correct no grass. Other greens had no grass on much on the surface just dirt or some type of black tar looking material to putt on. And that was not the worst part. Workers were spraying chemicals on most of the fairways with no regard whatsoever to the golfers. We were engulfed in clouds as the sprayers came within 10 feet of the players blanketing them in a fog of chemicals. I tried to report this to the management but no one was on duty. I called The Enviromental Protection Agency who transferred me to the Georgia Dept. of Agriculture who is sending an agent out to do an investigation and take samples. If anyone reading this had a similar experience you should contact the agent in charge of checking pesticides on Government properties. Under the FOL laws the golf course is required to tell golfers the type of chemicals used. I asked but was not given an answer. Jekyll is an embarrassment to the State of Georgia park system. I have written the Governor asking it be taken away from the Authority and placed back into a normal State Park system system several times. No response there. The main interest is now building more condos in a State Park taxpayers are paying to support. Follow the money. A park pass for Jekyll is about four times that for all the other State parks. Taxpayers are paying paying for millionaires to live here and trying to keep out lower income visitors in my opinion. If you are a tourist you will be charged 10% more at most restaurants is another reason to skip Jekyll on your vacation plans. If the State of Georgia wants to set up a private country club the taxpayers do not need to pay for this.
