点评：We booked a daylong tour with custom requests (Chinchero, natural textile tour, Moray, mountain biking through Maras into the Maras salt mines) and could not have asked for a more incredible experience from Alberto. He was attentive, punctual, interesting, and a joy to spend the day with. Alberto was also a wealth of information and started the day by introducing us to the maca and sweet quinoa beverage items that are (delicious!) breakfast staples in the Andes region.
We learned cultural context all along the way as we made these breathtaking stops, including Quechua people’s current worship of the mountains alongside the interwoven Catholicism brought by the Spanish. Alberto also shared his theories and knowledge about the Moray botanical laboratory ruins, which he did his thesis on during his degree to be an official guide.
The mountain biking into the Maras salt mines was breathtaking, memorable, and—again—full of interesting facts. We mentioned our interest in trying traditional chicha and Alberto led us on a detour to watch it being made and served before we hit the trail. My partner and I are well traveled and this was one of the best travel days either of us have ever had! Our highest recommendations!
