点评:Quite simply this might be the most amazing museum I have ever visited.
The setting itself, a campus of former textile and capacitor factory buildings, is very unique and beautiful on it’s on (I do like industrial aesthetics). There were lots of writings about the history of the campus and of the town itself all over the museum, which as a history buff I appreciated.
Most of the exhibits rotate, so what you see depends on when you go. There was an incredible exhibit on queer indigenous communities when we went that was so vibrant, celebratory, and powerful, and having it in the vast rooms of this historic building made it all the more special.
I am obsessed with James Turell, so I was so excited that there were a number of his works! Three of them- CAVU, Hind Sight, and Perfectly Clear require reservations. I felt they are all worth it, but I would not do Hind Sight if you don’t like being in the dark. For all of his works, put the phones and way, and do not use your phone’s flashlights! They can be disorientating, but trust me that your eyes and mind will adjust to the unique experiences.
My husband and I took a trip out here mainly to see MassMoCA and it was so worth it. But there is lots to do in the area, and of course this time of year is beautiful with the leaves.
