Amazing Views, But Crowds Can Take Away From the Experience

点评：We visited Peyto Lake during our trip to Banff, and overall, it was absolutely worth seeing. The lake was easy to locate, and parking was also fairly easy during our visit. There was no additional admission fee required specifically to visit the lake.
The hike up to the viewpoint was steep, but still manageable and relatively easy. Once we reached the top, the view was incredible. The aerial view of Peyto Lake was truly amazing. Personally, I actually preferred this view over the view of Lake Louise from Little Beehive, although that is just my personal opinion.
The overall experience would have been great if not for the crowds and lack of rule enforcement. I understand that Peyto Lake is a very famous and popular spot, so crowds are expected. However, what took away from the experience was seeing many people ignore the posted signs and fences asking visitors to stay on the trail. Some people went off trail just to take social media photos, despite there being plenty of signs clearly stating not to do so.
There were also people cutting in line at the photo spots on the viewing deck where the best views of the lake were. Many visitors were respectful of the rules and of nature itself, but unfortunately, there were also many who were not. I wish there had been rangers or staff regulating the area, especially because this is such a beautiful and protected place.
Despite that, Peyto Lake itself is stunning and definitely worth visiting. I would still recommend it, but I would suggest going early, being patient with the crowds, and respecting the trails and signs so that everyone can enjoy the view while also protecting the area.
