点评:I've loved coming to Rockport Texas for almost 40 years. But I've seen a sad decline in the quality of the experience in the last few years. These days there are so many jellyfish in Little Bay that you can't really enjoy the water. Literally a jellyfish is every 4 or 5 inches along the pier and every 2 feet along the beach and into the bay. What used to be a wonderful time in the surf and sand is now just a few minutes of walking on the shore trying to but step on the thousands of washed up moon jellyfish. And walking in the water is guaranteed stinging with the hundreds of thousands of jellyfish here. I think it's because Rockport discharges its treated sewage into Little Bay and that chokes out the oxygen with algae blooms and all the extra "nutrients" from both their treated sewage and untreated stormwater are simply killing the bay. It's been a few years of rapid decline now and my family and I may finally be giving up on Rockport. I've been 4 times this summer so far and 8 times in 2025 and it's been the same every time. 2024 was the same every trip as well, but just not as dense as this year. Only winter trips were without massive jellyfish blooms but then still had too much algae from the same discharge. This used to be the best place for families because of the protected beach and lack of drunken party environment, but if your kids are getting stung constantly and can't even build sand castles without jellyfish in them it's just not the same. As much as I truly hate saying this, until Rockport refuses to stop discharging their treated sewage into the bay this is not a fun vacation spot anymore. You can't even consistently get live shrimp to fish with at the bait shops because of the jellyfish. I'm sorry, Rockport. I love you but you're just too toxic these days. I recommend going down the road to Port Aransas. I'll be exploring other towns along the coast that cares more for their natural environment than Rockport.
