点评:I visited Havasupi November 2023. And this was the worst trip of my life. I stayed one night even thought I had a permit for 3 nights. I still have horrible visions of the pack animals in that canyon. They are starved, neglected, beaten, dehydrated, overworked, dying, a slow death for tourism and greed. I grew up on a rural ranch in rural Colorado and I know what horses are capable of. So so see small horses (not built for hauling) being used as pack animals it just hurts. The connection of spirit is lost in that canyon and telling me to know my place because I’m not native is ignorant. Abuse regardless of culture is abuse. The trip is not worth the hype, the truck, the resources, the time. The toilets are filled to the brim with everything that comes out of human body. There are campers who have left items in the campground, which quickly looks like a landfill if you don’t take it out. One of the rules of camping is you leave it better than you found it. If you weren’t planning on taking it out don’t take it in. There was trash everywhere behind the compost toilets. And for paying $350/night/person for a permit you think the campgrounds would be better managed. I strongly ask that you reconsider visiting Havasupi. There are magical, ethical, destinations where poverty, abuse, starvation, exploitation are not part of the picture
