Fantastic Modest-Sized Planetarium & Museum!
McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center的点评
点评：This museum gave our whole family hours of delight on a rainy day visiting NH! The museum itself is modest-sized: it has two floors, with a combination of interactive and purely educational exhibits, with an eye to children but containing plenty for adults too. Combined with the space show and use of the outdoor playground (just before the rain started), our family was here for nearly 4 and a half hours.
The staff was very helpful and friendly. (One staff member even found our son's lost umbrella!)
The planetarium space show we chose was the most common one: "Tonight's Sky." The woman who conducted this "live show" did a fantastic job; she knows so much, and presents everything in an engaging manner. My only mild critique is this: the audience was asked if we'd like to focus on 1) constellations and Greek mythology surrounding them, 2) the planets, or 3) dark matter. We were not interested in Greek mythology, but since that was mentioned as the first choice, it got the most votes. A better system may be to simply break the program into three shorter sections so no one feels outvoted. (This will leave less time for Greek mythology, which is not essential to astronomy.)
Overall, I highly recommend visiting here whether it's raining or not! You will learn so much and enjoy every minute of it. Oh, and your GPS may take you onto the campus of Concord University, so be sure to check the signs on the road!
