Went on a night walk to watch a loggerhead turtle lay about 100 eggs and return to the ocean.
We are from Australia and didn’t really know what to expect. My wife and our 2 girls aged 7 and 9. We travelled with another family of 4 with girls the same age.
We met the most wonderful volunteers who spent the first part of the night explaining in a presentation Loggerhead turtles and what we must do during the walk. During this the other volunteers walk a mile and a bit up and down the beach to go and find a turtle who will give birth.
We were so lucky that they found 2 so we were then guided to 1 of them.
In the moonlight and stars guiding us we walked a fair way up the beach along the shoreline and came to the most spectacular sight.
A massive loggerhead turtle mother laying eggs. Our girls were allowed to get within 3 feet behind the turtle. We then watched it cover the sand nest/hole and return to the ocean.
The volunteers were incredible with our children and us. Their knowledge was amazing and we are so grateful to have them do such amazing work.
This is a must do!
Warning: You WILL get wet (your feet and legs will). You CANT take photos or video as ANY Light is strictly prohibited. Very rare experience so you will be only able to tell the story! So different in this day and age.
Also it can take them a while to find turtles so be ready it could go very late.
Also make sure your kids can behave. It’s critical to be quiet.
A huge thank you to these amazing people. Well worth it!

这绝对是必体验的项目！
警告：你肯定会弄湿（你的脚和腿会湿）。严禁拍照或录像，任何光源都禁止使用。这是一次非常难得的经历，你只能讲述它的故事！在如今这个时代，这真是太难得了。
另外，他们可能需要一些时间才能找到海龟，所以做好待到很晚的准备。
还要确保你的孩子能够安静地待在那里。保持安静至关重要。
