点评：For spring break, my son and I canoed the Big South Form between Leatherwood Ford and Yamacraw Bridge. We began the trip overnight at Sheltowee Trace Adventure Resort in a well-appointed cabin. Sheltowee accommodated our trip perfectly. The canoe, PFDs and paddles were in great shape. In the morning, we followed Dale to drop off our car at Yamacraw Bridge and he shuttled us to Leatherwood Ford. Along the way he was a great source of information about the river, camping and general local knowledge. Drop off was great and when we got to Yamacraw, all we needed to do was pull the canoe up and leave.
The trip itself was wonderful. Perfect temperatures and sunshine. There are several nervy Class II rapids along the way - especially for a gear-heavy canoe but do-able with a little skill. Because this was our first trip, we often pulled to shore ahead of a class II to examine it from shore.
Our first night we stayed at Station Camp which had fire rings, tables and a really nice pit toilet. The second and third nights were spent primitive camping alongside the river. Really fun.
The trip itself was wonderful. Perfect temperatures and sunshine. There are several nervy Class II rapids along the way - especially for a gear-heavy canoe but do-able with a little skill. Because this was our first trip, we often pulled to shore ahead of a class II to examine it from shore.
