点评：This is an awesome place to bring families and everybody else to see what makes the United States great. The port and the lift bridge, in and of themselves, make this journey worth doing. You can board an oar boat here as well as watching them coming and going. If it’s been awhile, the construction of the new hospital (Essentia Health has invested over one billion dollars) makes a dramatic change in the Duluth skyline. Helicopters come all day and night from remote parts of the North bringing people to this Level One Hospital which is incredible to watch. The hotels along the north shore of Canal Park provide one of the greatest views of the ships although, if you want a farther away spectacular view, head north to Two Harbors or Tofte and watch them out there in total darkness at night. We have visited here several times and there are several options for food here, we’ve struck out at Grandma’s Restaurant in the past, including last summer, we feel there location (right under the Lift Bridge) makes service and food misses. For better food options, move away from Canal Park, head into Duluth and little bit. Canal Park is good for casual dining. The lake walk is world class and the engineering against the brutal lake is understated as you walk along it. If you are from Minnesota, you know what a brutal place this can be; we actually came here hoping for blizzard conditions cause the lake is spectacular when it’s rough. Remember, it was November when the iron ore ship Edmund Fitzgerald sank in 1975 after leaving the Port of Duluth into one of those brutal storms. If you are watching your pennies, this is a great place to come as the hotels offer significant off-season price reductions. We had a great couple days here right before Thanksgiving and walked down to the Bentlyville Christmas Light Display. We loved it and enjoy returning for the three hour drive from Minneapolis and St Paul, Minnesota.
