Long time visitor but first review of Canal Park

点评：The Canal Park area was once a desolate place and a shanty town, certainly not the tourist mecca it is now. I have been here probably 50 times over the past 30 years. I have stayed in every hotel in Canal Park as well as those downtown. I have attended conferences at the DECC (convention center) next to Canal Park probably 20 times or more. So yeah, I am quite familiar with what there is to offer here. The huge freighter ships coming in -you can track the schedule of their arrival and departure times online and at the museum- is quite an attraction as well as the many bars, restaurants and shops here. There is plenty to do including the views and watching the lift bridge go up and down for ships. The downside is that the huge popularity has caused there to be traffic jams often, parking lots and street parking filled to capacity. It is much less enjoyable at peak times. Visits in the morning are best or after 6PM. Most afternoons in the summer are just crazy here.
