点评:My wife and I were staying at a hotel 3 blocks away because we wanted to visit this "historic downtown". It was Tuesday, May 27, 2025. Even being only 3 blocks away, we had a very difficult time finding it as pedestrians. We even had a paper map plus using google maps on our phones. It may be much easier if you are driving, but walking we spent 45 minutes trying to find our way there. Signage could be better.
Anyway, I also want to speak out about the homeless, we did not see any. However, by all the bad reviews about the homeless, one would think there are hundreds of them hanging out here. Some say they are on specific drugs...did they test them to know this? Some say they are zombies... what?? Lots of horrible descriptions. Just where do these reviewers think the homeless should be? Do they understand the meaning of the word homeless? What is wrong with smiling at a homeless person? Give them a break or do something to help prevent homelessness instead of being horrified of another human being.
Anyway, we found this area to be charming, we perused the books stores and few other shops, had a drink at a bar and had dinner at a restaurant. A pleasant afternoon and early evening. I read that there is a free trolley that travels between here and UVA campus. We never saw a trolley anywhere.
