A rough start but turned into a delightful experience with delicious food and a fantastic service!

点评：What started out as a very bad experience with the front desk reception folks (there were no less than 12 employees standing around and being very dismissive when I approached to check in for our reservation), turned out to be a wonderful experience.
Victoria quickly brought water, asked if she could get anything started and would we like anything to drink besides water. Then she said Gene would be serving us. When I asked for a salad, she mentioned that they may be out of bacon...I asked for extra beets instead. What arrived was the salad as described on the menu and also EXTRA beets. There was no additional charge. Gene arrived and confirmed that the salad was to our liking which it was. Took our meal orders. The gnocci macadamia nut pesto is divine, the fish and chips, delish. After we had finished our meal (and we were nut rushed at all; in fact, Victoria said 'happy hour is over soon, would you like another glass of wine?' So very considerate!), Gene brought over a slice of strawberry cream pie 'on the house, I'm sorry your experience here started out bad'. I told him that was certainly no necessary and he said 'it's ok, and this pie is my favorite'. I can see why, it was delightfully light, creamy and a perfect end to a wonderful meal while watching the surfers catch waves. I asked another employee to speak to the manager before we left; I wanted him to know what the first impression was at his establishment. Elijah came right away and apologized profusely after I explained what happened. He then brought over a certificate for complimentary wine and appetizer at our next encounter. I told him that isn't what we were looking for; we wanted to let him know how the first impression is to guests. Being in Waikiki and a tourist destination, first impressions are lasting and people tell their friends. We will definitely be back!
