点评:When we were in Nara recently we were taken to the garden and loved our quiet time there.
Two gardens there for you to see, the front one which was set up over 300 years ago, the back garden was built over 100 years ago.
Both lovely but quite different.
There is a lot of use of running streams and ponds, stone bridges, the sound of the running water is so soothing in this busy area.
This was a private residence and garden of a wealthy merchant in the Edo period
Lots of use of rocks and stone lanterns, trees and plants are just coming out of winter and starting to bud, in a couple of weeks the cherry blossoms will be in bloom.
Love the small ponds with stepping stones to little islands.
Quite a lot of building including the old house and tea rooms and little waiting rooms near the tea rooms.
The owner obviously did a lot of graceful entertaining many years ago. There is a little shrine in the back garden.
We visited the old home as inside was a display of very old precious dolls.
It was Girls day a couple of days ago so girls have a collection of dolls in Japan that are displayed In March, a Japanese tradition.
We had Japanese tea with special sweets in the garden from the little cafe there, it was a lovely sunny afternoon a perfect time to really enjoy this special place. There is a entry fee of 1200 yen per person.
