点评：There are tours and tours ...if you know what I mean ! We found a mention of Sun Valley Plantation in our guide book and were so happy to have booked a driver to take us to this paradise plantation based inland, in Jamaica.
We were greeted by Lorna who has lived at the plantation for many, many years. She was so welcoming, kind and knowledgable. You don't often meet people like her. She gave us such a thorough and informative tour where we saw and learnt so much.
Seeing all the exotic flowers and trees growing so happily in these lush conditions was fascinating ..and this was winter! It's hard to imagine any more flowers, but apparently spring and summer is even more colourful with butterflies everywhere.
On our visit flowers included alamanders, hibiscus, ginger lily flowers in every shade imaginable, starbush etc. Wonderful fruit trees including many varieties of bananas, cola nuts, ortaniques, mangoes etc and the spices - wow, vanilla, cinnamon, turmeric, arrow root, to name a very few.
Everything is beautifully labelled and we were lucky enough to drink fresh coconut water and try some of the fruits. We also loved seeing all the stunning and tame hummingbirds in the garden. If you get chance do make this tour a priority. It was only 20 minutes or so from our hotel near Ocho Rios and the memories of these few hours will stay with us for many years. Thank you to Lorna and her team of plants people.
