点评:The GoPass customer service at the Gondola Centre has service mixed with contempt. I bought my lift pass ahead, online, to have one less thing to worry about. I received 2 emails, one with a barcode, the 2nd with a pin buried deep within the email. Scrap the barcode. It's pointless, and instead, you only need the pin. I get the lift pass and arrive at the gate to get an error message. I ski backwards to return to contempt central. I now choose to talk German to this stony faced person. No apology. Here is a replacement lift pass.
Infrastructure. The sole gondola is fast and keeps the wait times low.
The two chair lift queues at Solisko are very long and not well managed. Customers are allowed to struggle. French operators manage beginners better.
Hala Skrzyczenska chair lifts queue entrances have unpleasant gradients, causing either back or forward sliding. Awful queue times.
The beautiful if plodding chair ride 4 up to the massive tower has a lovely travelator to bring us up to the cafe. To get to 3a and 21 requires a climb up a hacked ice staircase. Two people slipped. Then it's a scramble over rocks to then ski down an icy tube. I didn't fall. A boarder went over in front of me. I had thought the button lift at the top of Saas Fee was challenging.
On a sunny -4° day, we have a lot of bear ice, particularly the bottom 50% of piste 3, which turns into a slippery red.
It's like skiing in the Alps 30 years ago. Is this a locals only resort, or do they want more tourists? I'm bilingual, but with all the signs only in Polish, it can be confusing.
Piste bashing. I got out fairly early, and I like to have an evening walk. I can see no evidence of overnight piste bashing. Go to Sol, Mayrhofen, Verbier, Saas Fee, Sierra Nervada, etc, and you see the Piston Bullies working or in the day spreading.
Szczyrk is cheaper than its Alpine rivals. I'll pay more and better appreciate the Alps. Stay away unless you're a local.
