Such a fascinating place, highly recommended

点评：This place is fascinating! I highly recommend going, the only thing to note is that you need to be able to read at a reasonable rate to keep up with the tour if you don't speak Japanese. As others have said it is only given in Japanese and speakers of other languages will be given a printed folder (be patient, we were initially only given a small leaflet and then after they had got everyone in they brought around bigger folders with full information), which has a lot of information with it. At no point did I feel that I was missing out, the building is very interesting and the tour points out so many interesting hidey-holes and rooms and doors. It really is worth it. We booked by showing up at around 10am on the day and speaking to someone (in English) to reserve a spot on a tour 20 minutes later, but you can call in advance if you are visiting on a peak day. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and it's a lovely location near Nishi Chaya that is nice for exploring before or afterwards.
