点评:First of all, this is not a review about the Visitor Center in particular. It is about planning a visit to Harrison Hot Springs.
The pay parking system basically says leave us alone. It is the only one I have ever seen where the rate per hour goes up the longer you stay, presumably in the hopes that people don’t notice. And the parking enforcers are vultures. They monitor which are vehicles are about to expire and wait right next to them so they can issue a ticket as soon as it runs out. There are so many more places to visit in the Fraser Valley that welcome visitors. Why go where it encourages you to stay away?
On a recent visit to Harrison, we had a wonderful lunch at a restaurant in Harrison that has it’s own parking. I mentioned my frustration with the parking system on the strip and was informed that businesses are upset as well. I hope they are speaking up because we have definitely taken Harrison off of our list of places to take out of town guests.
To be clear, I have no objection to the implementation of paid parking. It makes sense given location. What I object to is what is clearly a system designed to trap people into getting parking tickets. I don’t know who gets the revenue from the parking tickets. My guess is the majority goes to the company running the system. So Harrison stands to lose visitors with an outside company getting most of the revenue.
