Beautiful Scenery, Mediocre Food, and a Parking Scam That Ruins It All

点评：We came to Sundance for lunch, expecting a nice experience in the mountains. The setting is beautiful, though much of it is currently under construction, which takes away from the charm. The food? Adequate at best—definitely overpriced for what it is. But none of that really matters, because what we’ll remember most about this visit is the blatantly deceptive parking situation.
After paying for an expensive, underwhelming meal, we returned to our car only to find a parking violation waiting for us. There were no clear signs indicating that this was a paid lot—no obvious pay stations, no markings on the parking spots, nothing that a reasonable person would see and immediately recognize as a pay-to-park situation.Apparently, we weren’t the only ones fooled—the car parked next to us had a ticket as well.
When we spoke with a parking attendant, they admitted they’ve had this issue before. The supervisor even tried to justify it by saying the sign was “as big as my chest”—as if reading fine print on someone’s T-shirt while driving by is a reasonable expectation! If multiple people are getting ticketed daily, maybe—just maybe—the signage isn’t clear enough? Of course, that’s the whole point. Instead of making it easy for visitors to pay, they’d rather make money by ticketing unsuspecting guests.
This shady parking policy ruined what should have been a nice day. Instead of feeling like valued guests, we felt tricked and scammed. If you’re coming to Sundance, be prepared to either overpay for parking or overpay for a meal or both. We won’t be back.
