点评:My wife and I visited the White Mountains and enjoyed the 45 minute cog railway climb up to the summit of Mount Washington. The week prior to our visit the summit temperatures was in the mid-50's and sunny. One week later, during our visit in mid-May, the summit temperature was 30 degrees and the ground was covered in ice/ snow. The observation building was not open - scheduled to open on Memorial Day weekend. We did step off the railway passenger car and climbed up to the actual mountain summit for photographs. It would have been nice for 50 degree and sunny weather, however with the cold and snow/ ice build-up made for a truly unique experience. After braving the weather for 20 minutes, we settled back onto the train awaiting to take us back down the Mount Washington to the Cog Railway Visitor Center. The railway staff provided a history of the railway on the climb up to and descending the summit back down the mountain. The center has a small museum, large gift ship, and cafeteria/ snack store. Overall a very unique experience. Be prepared for the weather to change on a moments notice. It is best to dress in layers to stay warm.
