Disappointing
Hampton National Historic Site的点评
点评：My husband and I have been here many years ago. During that time there were renovations that were being done. I thought visiting during Christmas would be able to see the beautiful decorations. First, you do need to make reservations even though it's free. They allow groups of 10 for each tour. There is a visitor center you arrive to get your ticket. Don't get excited> it is only bathrooms and 2 large shelves of items you can purchase. You then drive up to the main house. There is a ramp on back if house for the tour entrance. You enter into a small group then walk to the main foyer. Our guide was very friendly and informative. Now note: you only tour the first floor. I asked why we don't tour the second floor? They used to tour the entire house. She said because of those who may not be able to climb the steps. So, we are being punished because of the few who can't? Guess what> they can wait downstairs! Put some benches in the foyer and they can sit. Problem solved. There was 1 christmas tree. That was the decoration. After the tour, you can walk or drive to the farm. Few recreations of slave quarters. There's a house for I believe the overseer. But we just toured the back and left. Again, it's free. But disappointing.
