Would have been a great experience had the heat been provided

点评：Ballintore Castle is in under restoration. The Kitchen flat is set up as a rental with three bedrooms and a open living space with a wood stove. The galley kitchen is at the entrance -and not really inviting. The flat has a hallway that is about 30 feet of glass that looks out at a dirt courtyard space to the castle. I would recommend staying here only during the late spring to early fall when heat is not essential for comfort. The kitchen flat is around and to the side of the castle. There are rooms that are completed in the castle's keep. They are all unique and finished. We stayed here at the end of November and the day we arrived was quite cold and there has been an ice freeze. The owner David and his staff.have adapted to cold conditions and do not keep the heating system on. When we arrived for our stay, it was dark and there was no outdoor lighting, we wondered around tryingto figure out where we should be. Finally David came outside. Also no wood provided to heat spaces, you will have to research where to purchase wood. It was unique staying at a castle, it was freezing, damp.and musty. The electricity popped in the upper kitchen, so food was not kept at proper temperature. It was difficult to find David. The next morning there was a delivery driver asking us if we knew where he was.
We were told by David that there was a "restaurant" so part of our group didn't worry about bringing food....no restaurant

Overall - do not stay during cold season -as heat will not be turned on for more than a couple of hours....if that-i imagine it's expensive to heat a castle
Bring your own firewood
It's a beautiful area of Scotland, do go to Glamis castle for tea and the tour!! I highly recommend!
