拉奥拉斯大街的点评
点评：Las Olas is Spanish for the waves which is appropriate since this road begins at Andrews Ave and ends at A1A at the beach. Further up however and closer to downtown Ft Lauderdale is a cute little area of 4 blocks filled with boutiques, restaurants with sidewalk seating, art galleries, clubs and ice cream shops. As you walk along there are a lot of cute side alleys to explore between the businesses. Whenever I am near the downtown area I like to do a drive by.
Today I paid a visit because I took my daughter to lunch at the Cheesecake Factory. After lunch we had fun as we strolled down the boulevard and peeked into art galleries and the boutique stores. Some of my favorite businesses are Fresh Produce, Kilwins, Hoffman's Chocolates, and Cafe Europa. Today I noticed a new business El Camino which was large Mexican restaurant that opened onto the street. It looked wonderful and I am putting it on the list to come back and try.
Parking can be tricky around here. Although there is parallel parking on the street your best bet is to look for the city lots offering parking behind the businesses on the south side of the street. There are many wonderful events held on Las Olas throughout the year which include Christmas on Las Olas, art fairs, and the food and wine festival. During the events they will close off the street. Since these events attract large crowds it makes parking in the area even more difficult than usual.
