The tasting is an experience but dut purchase Whiskey from the distillery

点评：I am a bit torn with my recent experience. We booked the Master tasting. The person leading the tour was very professional and the other staff were all friendly and welcoming. The tasting itself was enjoyable. It is a privilege to visit an iconic establishment in the South African liquor sector.
During the tour we enquired about the prices of the whiskeys relative to retail prices. We were advised that the cellar aims to keep their prices on par and maybe a bit under retail. Which seems fair as the producer of the product.
A few of us purchased bottles of Whiskey. I appreciate the practice of the wine industry to give you a discount on your wine purchase when you paid for a tasting, but this is not practiced in this instance.
The next morning, i did a quick google search and found that there are a few retailers stocking the whiskey I purchased at a price discount of 25% to that of the cellar. This I found does not sit well. Keeping in mind that 25% relates to approx R400 difference in price and the price of a tasting was further R450 per person.
Also kept in mind that you need to book a tasting to visit the distillery. this just means that I will not again visit the distillery and also never purchase Whiskey there as i can purchase the whiskey much cheaper at retailers.
