Wonderful Campground with Friendly Bears!

点评：This is a wonderful campground with large sites and many amenities. I have enjoyed camping there over the past three decades. One thing was different this past trip of two weeks and that was a bear we were warned about when at the check-in booth (tagged on the left ear). This might be of concern to some folks planning to camp there.
This bear seemed to live in the hollow end of a large fallen tree behind our campsite (194). The first night she stared at me as she started her evening campground rounds (still daylight). I smiled back at her and also waved. The next night she decided to cruise thru our campsite while we again were enjoying a nice evening campfire. She sniffed everything and went on to the next campsite. She found nothing at either campsite, so she then went on her way. A week later a large group of folks came in and used the two adjoining campsites.
One evening while they were finishing dinner, the bear decided to join them and confiscated a large bag of waste that they were collecting to put into the bear proof dumpster shortly. We were close by and snapped a few photos of the event (see below). The bear is quite friendly and doesn't harm anyone. She even layed down and ate the scraps, etc. feeling like a part of the group. When the scraps were gone, she climbed up on top of their table!
This bear was around quite a bit and I captured photos here and there that might be of interest to those who have camped at Fallen Leaf Lake Campground in the past. This bear was the friendliest bear I have ever seen there. Neither this bear or any other at the campground have been known to want more than some food if they can "confiscate" it.
The ordinance regarding food and waste storage is also attached. The bear was ignoring the ordinance and not supposed to be raiding food and scraps during daylight hours.
Last year (same two weeks) were hit with Hurricane Hilliary. This year the excitement was the "friendly" bear during our two week stay there in late August.
