普吉丛林大象保护区的点评
点评：We had such a fantastic day at the sanctuary. All of the elephants here have been rescued from tough backgrounds like in the logging or the entertainment industry, and it’s immediately clear how well they’re now cared for. Each elephant has its own dedicated carer who lives on-site, which really shows in how relaxed and happy they seem.
The whole experience was incredibly well put together. It starts with an informative talk about the elephant’s background, how they’re looked after now, and their daily routines, which really helps you appreciate the work being done.
You then get to meet the elephants and feed them fruit, followed by making rice balls for them—which they absolutely love! Spending that time up close with them is something really special.
After that, you join them for a mud bath and a wash in a natural pool, helping to scrub them down before rinsing them off. It’s fun, hands-on, and done in a way that clearly puts the elephants’ comfort first. The handlers always ensure the animals are relaxed and needs are put first.
Once you’ve finished, there are showers (with towels and shower gel provided), and then you take part in a Thai cooking class followed by a really tasty hot buffet lunch.
What stood out most was just how ethical everything felt. The guides were brilliant—friendly, knowledgeable, and always happy to answer questions or help take photos. There’s also a photographer capturing the day, and all the photos are included in the price, to be downloaded at your at your leisure, which is a great bonus.
Overall, an unforgettable experience and, most importantly, a place where the elephants are genuinely well looked after.
