点评:I've been here twice. Once in the late 90's and now, in 2026. Rocks are rocks. Nothing much has changed in that period of time. It is, though, an interesting place to explore. How long depends upon whether you hike or not, how far down the road you go, and if you have an off road vehicle. I do not have an off road vehicle, so once Movie Road ended being paved, I didn't follow it any further for concern about getting stuck in sand.
Movie Road is so named because a lot of TV shows and movies were made here. There are also interesting rock features throughout the area. Plus, you can see the tallest mountain in the lower 48 states, Mount Whitney, from just about everywhere here. The paved road going through the Alabama Hills, Whitney Portal Road, will bring you to the trailhead that goes to the top of Mount Whitney. There is a camp store there too.
With all that said, I just did some easy exploration of the Alabama Hills. Nothing spectacular, but definitely interesting. If you are into rocks, you will probably like this place. If you are limited for time, the first few places you come across will satisfy your curiosity.
