We opted for lunch at Quinta do Infantado, which we loved. It begins with a tour of the winery, and our host did a particularly excellent job weaving together the story of his family's vineyard with the history of Portugal, stretching from the 1800s to present day. You get unique insight from the winemaker himself on the winemaking process as well.
After the tour, you sit in his beautiful tasting room for a series of tastings and lunch courses. In our case, lunch was vegetarian (which we preferred). The food was homemade, fresh, and delicious. I've never before had melon soup, or oranges with olive oil, but I'll be making both at home in the future.
Joao's wine is high quality - both his dry wines and his port. We took a bottle of white home with us, and his ruby port was particularly memorable. Definitely worth prioritizing a visit here!
