A Venue That Slams the Door on Disabled People (or might as well)

点评：Engine Rooms Southampton is the textbook definition of a venue stuck in the dark ages. A venue whose owners and management have a form of indifference towards those who need reasonable adjustments. This isn’t just a poor attitude towards accessibility, it’s shameful.
From publishing unlawful accessibility policy on their website which would be bad enough but then the resulting radio silence when reasonable and civil engagement was attempted, really highlights exactly how little they care about disabled people, their needs or their ability to enjoy live events.
Literally showing how proud they are to be devoid of basic human decency and showing total contempt for disabled people and the law that is meant to protect their rights.
To make things worse the manager Justin is a first responder, I wonder if has this same view point when responding to 999 calls? Especially given how ingrained Equality, Diversity and Inclusion is in the public sector. Even if he doesn't, he presides over a venue that slams the door in disabled people’s faces and then hides from accountability by ignoring them.
This isn’t an oversight or an accident. It’s wilful ignorance. The venue has been contacted multiple times in an attempt to engage, to listen and to fix their discriminatory stance instead they've chosen to do nothing in the hope it goes away. Just silence. Just contempt.
Accessibility isn’t some optional extra, venues have a legal duty to make reasonable adjustments and in the case of Engine Rooms Southampton it would appear that this is being treated as if it is optional.
A venue that treats disabled people like an inconvenience doesn’t deserve anyone’s trust, respect, or money.
Avoid at all costs especially if you're disabled or have additional needs. Southampton deserves better than this embarrassment of a venue.
