Tips for visits if you plan to visit during Snow Time or Christmas Lights

点评：Now I’ve been to the HVG twice - most recently for the snow time and previously for the Christmas lights.
On our most recent visit we were there on the last Monday of school holidays, arriving at opening time and leaving by lunchtime. We headed straight to get an ice skating time slot, then did the tobogganing a number of times with no queues - it’s very short so I couldn’t imagine having to queue for a 10 sec ride - and then bought some very overpriced ride tickets and were literally the only ones on the ferris wheel, teacups, swings and merry-go-round. Finally the kids played on the dirty, slushy mound of fake snow. Was I impressed? Far from it, but considering we didn’t have to queue for anything it was an enjoyable day out considering our hotel in provided tickets in our room package - i imagine it would have been horrendous to have been there on a weekend.
Finally we wandered back to the exit through the gardens, that are there all year around - the storybook gardens are cute but in winter the other gardens obviously lacked at bit of colour.
The Christmas Lights were far more impressive - but I would say if you’re there on a busy night don’t bother with the rides - by the time you queue for ride tickets then queue for the rides there goes your night! We promised our kids a trip to Luna Park another day in lieu of rides - and probably cheaper too! And don’t plan to eat there- overpriced, long queues, average food options and finding somewhere to sit is challenging. Just plan to go and enjoy the lights and you won’t leave disappointed.
