Boorowa Courthouse Park的点评
点评：Boorowa's first courthouse was a basic structure also serving as a lockup, built in 1857. A more substantial courthouse was built three years later, costing £800, and a £68 fence was added in 1862 to prevent interaction between prisoners and the public.
The first District Court hearing in Boorowa took place in 1866. The courthouse had a £150 addition in 1868, and the building was eventually replaced in 1883 due to increased court sittings and the building's age.
The new grand building was designed by the Colonial Architect James Barnet and was one of 130 court houses built during Barnet’s 25-year tenure. Barnet was known for a classical revival style which incorporated Palladian elements in its composition. The Boorowa Court House cost £5,750 at time of construction in 1885/86 and was the last of a series of structures that housed court proceedings in the town.
This courthouse was completed by January 1886 and had many upgrades over the years. Electricity was installed in 1926 and there was a $30,000 refurbishment in 1984. Court sittings in Boorowa ceased in 1988, but court hearings continued to be held in nearby Yass and Young.
The building is undoubtedly impressive, but also to note at this rest area are the information signs that give you a comprehensive history of the railway. It's an incredibly good rest stop... with picnic tables on offer.
