点评:I’ve done plenty of winery tours and tastings but never Grappa. Being in Piedmont, it seemed like something to try, as apparently it is traditional to the region. This place I found while doing a “nearby” TA search. You have to be looking for it, there seems to be little signage to direct you there.
On entering through the gate I was warmly greeted and encouraged to have a tasting.
The staff person had somewhat limited English but his enthusiasm shone through, and I think I captured most of what he tried to tell me. both during the tasting and short tour of the facility ( it’s small and quite traditional).
There were some 10-12 samples to try, grappas and vermouth ( I wasn’t aware that vermouth was wine that had been infused with grappa). It was good to sample side by side, as in the past, when I have tasted Grappa as an after dinner digestive, it was hard to tell what characteristics should be considered. I think I have a better idea now, although I don’t see it ever becoming my “drink of choice”. I’m still not sure if I could tell a superior Grappa from an ordinary one, but I have a better chance now than I did before. And I found the tasting to be a fun experience.
