A wonderful afternoon in Horse Country 🐎

点评：We visited Godolphin's Gainsborough Farm this past Sunday for the Mares & Foals tour, and highly recommend it to everyone visiting Horse Country!
Our group was very small, just our family and another couple so we were able to have a very personal and hands-on experience. Emma was our enthusiastic tour guide and she did an excellent job! She was incredibly knowledgeable about the farm and the history of Godolphin, and shared with us many personal anecdotes from having grown up with her family around these magnificent horses. The story she shared with us about Cody's Wish was incredibly touching, and I look forward to reading more about it in the recently published book of the same name...
We loved being able to interact with the mares and their precious foals, ranging in ages from about four to twelve weeks old. My daughter has been riding since she was five years old and both of us have always been a little obsessed with horses since then. It was so much fun to give the mares carrots & peppermints that Emma provided for us - while we weren't supposed to give treats to the youngsters, they seemed to enjoy getting pets and trying to teethe on our hands. It is amazing to think that these adorable colts & fillies might just be the horseracing world's superstars of tomorrow!
The tour was a good length, and we never felt rushed. It was more relaxed than other Horse Country tours we've been on, including the other Godolphin property in Lexington, Jonabell Farm, where we visited back in 2019. We really enjoyed that one, too, but for me, I prefer getting up close to the horses, who seem to be cheeky beggars no matter how famous they are. If we ever come back to the Lexington area again, my family would definitely return to Gainsborough Farm!

这次参观行程安排得恰到好处，我们一点也不觉得赶。比起我们之前参加过的其他马乡之旅，包括2019年我们去过的位于列克星顿的另一处高多芬马场——乔纳贝尔农场，这次的行程更加轻松自在。我们也很喜欢乔纳贝尔农场，但我个人更喜欢近距离接触马匹，它们无论多么有名，都像一群调皮的乞丐。如果我们有机会再次来到列克星顿地区，我的家人一定会再次光顾盖恩斯伯勒农场！
