Not Worth the Drive – Poor Service and Missed Opportunity

点评：As part of the official Eastern Townships cheese circuit, I expected Fromagerie de Cantons to offer a welcoming experience, unfortunately, our visit fell well short of expectations.
Despite being listed as a stop on the circuit – which suggests they’re accustomed to out-of-town guests – customer service was poor. When we arrived, many of the cheeses advertised on their website were sold out. About a third of the cheeses in the display case were unlabelled, making it difficult to know what was being offered.
When we politely asked (in French) for information about a specific cheese, we were met with a condescending “Pardon?” and had to repeat ourselves several times due to a loud fan running in the background... Pardon? Pardon? Pardon? Rather than being helpful, the staff member seemed annoyed by our questions – as though our presence was an inconvenience.
Sadly, when asked, no samples were offered, and no effort made to guide us through their selection. I was looking forward to tasting and their cheeses, but the lack of engagement made that impossible.
Having visited many other cheesemakers on the circuit – where staff are welcoming, knowledgeable, and proud to share their craft – Fromagerie de Cantons was a notable outlier. A cheesemaker on this route should expect to introduce their products to curious visitors and create an experience that reflects the region’s passion for cheese.
I hope they consider improving the customer experience to match the standards upheld by their peers. I went out of my way to visit them and have to say; it was not worth the drive.
