点评:I don't know if I've ever been on a worse trail. It should have a sign: Danger strong likelihood you will break or sprain an ankle. I had a previous ankle injury so I knew it was rocky (didn't know how rocky) and switch to tennis shoes before doing it. I was also hiking this with a neck strain, so not the best circumstances, but I wanted to get one hike in, this seemed doable by description and of course, the main goal was to reach Honeymoon Beach.
This trail was literally almost nonstop rocks I had to carefully and rather constantly watch my footing on. Even without previous injuries or even if I had hiking boots and was 20 years younger, I still would not want to do this trail again. It was seriously unpleasant and I could see why the USVI Park did not charge entrance fees with how bad this trail was. I'm normally the one leading us on a hike and encouraging the kids to keep pushing through, but this time youth was on their side and they were way ahead navigating the rocks with no problem while my husband helped me almost the whole way. People that already did it and were leaving made comments like it wasn't easy for them either saying not much longer. I wondered why they were going back up the hard way because I had both read there was an easier way back and the taxi driver said the same. With my neck and previous leg injuries I would have possibly not been able to go back and do that same path again unless there was no way out and no choice. Luckily towards the end of the first part where you almost reach Honeymoon, I see a glorious fork/hope in the road and one other family that seemed to know what I read and I asked them to confirm and they said it was the easier way back.
It wasn't that it was just a miserably rather constant uneven rocky path to navigate, it wasn't visually interesting whatsoever. It was shaded and luckily not buggy so there is that, but the path was awful I can't rate it higher. I'm used to navigating tree roots small and big rocks here and there while hiking, but what was so taxing again was how relentless and non stop these rocks were. It simply is not safe for anyone without strong ankles. I felt like an old lady on that trail which is embarrassing because I've handled what others have rated as harder trails---that one was just too challenging for my particular history of injuries and not ideal of course for a significant neck strain but again I didn't think it was THAT rocky. I will say though there weren't a lot of people, I didn't see anyone else struggle as much as me in case that helps others decide they may want to try it. Overall, I would not recommend and suggest you get whatever shuttle that might be offered to get there instead or just skip that beach.
The trail back wasn't easy per se but it was significantly better than the trail down from off the side of the Visitor's Center. I believe the trail we took back was Lower Lind Point. It still had bad rocky sections, but they weren't nearly as frequent and there were at least a few visually interesting cactus and plants and one lonely hermit crab on the way back vs the very boring one on the way there. I'll review Honeymoon Beach separately, but I will say at first glance I wasn't like oh that trail was so worth this.
