点评：We stopped in after visiting a nearby festival and spending time at our vacation home. We've been here twice, once last fall and then yesterday. Our first experience was pleasant enough, as we shared a charcuterie board, and I drank a glass of white wine inspired by Cajun culture. It was fragrant, and a nice choice for autumn. They were having a fall festival that day.
But yesterday's visit is another story. I drank a glass of Sauvignon Blanc, which was lovely. My husband and I both ordered food, which tasted OK. The issue was the unfriendliness and arrogance of the person who waited on us.
We had been out walking in the heat, and I thought it would be fun to have a chilled beverage, such as a wine slushy. I recognize that they are not the height of sophistication. I have tasted wine all over the world, and that isn't necessarily my go to. But it sounded like a good idea to me yesterday, so I asked if they had it. A simple no would suffice, But instead, he scoffed, saying, no, we don't adulterate our wine. If I had not been hungry, thirsty, and tired, we would have turned around and walked out.
He gave us a chilly reception after that and we couldn't wait to leave. My grandfather used to say "an ounce of pretension is worth a pound of manure". I agree, and the next time we are out in the Virginia countryside, we will select one of several other wineries with better hospitality.
