Upstairs, Fine Art - Downstairs, Gifts, Toys & Teddy Bears
Morpeth Gallery的点评
点评:Morpeth Gallery is one of the main attractions in Morpeth and there’s enough here to keep you browsing for some time.
Upstairs is a fine art gallery. Downstairs is a wide-ranging selection of gifts, arts and crafts, toys, and teddy bears.
As you might expect, there are a lot of rural and traditional Australian landscapes here but it’s not restricted to this genre. Some very beautiful still life and floral works by Ann Morton caught my eye.
There were some unusual and very striking works by Guiseppe Verdi, using 24K gold leaf in very bold paintings. A short video shows the technique. However at $65,000 a pop, his works were a bit beyond my budget for the weekend.
Its worth noting that there are small items like glasses cases, mouse pads, and cards with artists’ prints on them if you want a small keepsake or gift.
Even if you are not in the market for a painting, Morpeth Gallery is a good place to enjoy browsing and there’s a lot for kids to see here too.
Next door is the maze-like antiques centre housed inside historic Campbell’s Store building.
