Morpeth Antique Centre的点评
点评：The Morpeth Antique Centre is one of the main attractions in Morpeth. It’s an Aladdin’s cave of antiques, vintage treasures, retro pieces and curios.
25 dealers are gathered together over two levels, making it something of a rabbit warren and fun to explore.
The centre is housed inside the old Campbell’s Store building, which is also one of the historic sights on the Morpeth Heritage Walking Trail.
Even for those who are not in the least bit interested in antiques or shopping, there are a lot of fun pieces and curious items.
Out the back is an original slab hut cottage of the kind built by the first settlers. Next to it is an old brake van. Built in the 1860s for a private railway line, it transported coal from the Minmi mines to the ships at Hexham.
Inside, it’s a treasure trove spread over two levels. Unless you have a lot of time on your hands, its impossible to see everything. We spent a lot of time reminiscing over nostalgic kids’ toys and trying on hats in the upstairs section.
There’s also a small cafe in the old servants’ quarters. The scones looked great although we didn’t stop here this time.
NOTE: The centre is only open Thursday to Sunday, but it has long opening hours, from 10am – 5pm.
