Cheap option means high mileage banger. Ask for details when booking?

点评：No problems with the booking, collection or return of the car. In fact, being met just outside the airport was a breeze, and dropping off could not be more simple (just leave the car where instructed).
My only gripe was with the car itself, OK I accept we only rented a cheap pug 208, but I didn’t expect it to be such a tired old nail with a really heavy clutch for such a little thing. It took me a few days of difficulty adapting to the heavy, dead feel of the clutch resulting in a rather jerky / revvy embarrassment of a drive! It is one the cars around with only three cylinders and had done over 96,000 miles!
Nevertheless, if you rent a new car from one of the big names they go over it with a fine tooth comb to check for damage, so we look for independent hire companies when on holiday / ask Airbnb host for recommendation - next time I will consider paying just that little bit more for something above bargain basement and ask more questions about the car we will be hiring in advance of arrival.
Bearing in mind the crazy driving antics of the Maltese, and competition for the tightest of parking spaces I think a car with a few war wounds (plus having full damage waiver) is a benefit rather than fret about parking damage on your holidays.
