点评:Me and some friends did The Ledger: Ed Cooke room, which is 1920s-associated. Great idea in theory with on-point theming, but flawed game design made this a poor experience.
Some puzzles were too obtuse, and others could’ve technically had more than one solution. Didn’t have a clear sense of progression, so we didn’t know if we were close to escaping. One key/lock worked in an unusual way, so too much time was wasted looking for other things, since we thought there was more to opening it.
Lastly, while our game master was new and was clearly trying his best to be helpful, he could’ve projected more when giving us hints through the speaker system, which by itself felt outdated. Other items in the room also looked like they were falling apart, or, for written clues, even had typos.
Ultimately, the price we paid for the room escape did not meet our expectations. I strongly advise Escape Room NJ to invest in better equipment and utilize more thoughtful/intuitive game designs. Until that happens, we won’t be returning.
