点评:They say that if you're travelling with a small group and there are no standout problem characters to take a good look at yourself. So perhaps it was me, because our group was special. Our leader, Donna, was a standout with a CV that couldn't be scripted and every one had a back story that was teased out over a couple of days. Two days? Felt like a week. In a good way. But perhaps we should emphasise the vast, magnificence of the land we flew over. From every seat in the plane, the view was breathtaking. Firstly north to Birdsville via Innamincka over Cooper Creek and then back down the Diamantina right across Lake Eyre which was just beginning to dry out. Birdsville Hotel units, refurbished and just the thing after a long, long day ending with sunset drinks on Big Red, looking over the Simpson Desert. Even if you miss the regional flood experience – and we were on the cusp – the colours through the salt and the landscape heading into the Flinders Ranges are still breathtaking. And the fossils of Nilpena with a special lunch provided by Jane Fargher. And then driving through the Flinders with Peter from the Prairie at Parachilna. A privilege to have such a knowledgable guide, to meet indigenous superstar Christian Coulthard, to see our wide brown land covered in green and wildflowers is a privilege we will never forget. Thank you.
