According to the Dutch version, there is a monument to the inventor of printing.
Beeld Laurens Janszoon Coster的点评
点评:The monument to Laurens Coster by sculptor Louis Royer has been standing on the Grote Markt since 1856. However, periodically moving around the area. According to Dutch legend, around 1430, Coster was 22 years ahead of Johann Gutenberg and invented printing. Printing sheets was commonplace, but Coster is credited with the invention of typesetting, which allowed him to dramatically expand the range of books and make corrections. The proof of Coster's priority is weak and based only on the oral tradition of the early 16th century. Interestingly, there are already two Coster monuments in Haarlem! One is located on the territory of the local gymnasium. Since even the personality of Coster is semi-mythological, the image of the sexton from Haarlem was invented by the sculptor. But this didn`t prevent the locals from choosing this particular monument as a meeting place.
