Fantastic horseback riding trip with Chimborazo Tours

点评：We did the horseback-riding tour with Chimborazo Tours and can highly recommend it. Our driver and guide Renato showed us some amazing places along the way, like "La Chorrera", a steep valley where we could observe a nest of Puna hawk or Gurney's hawk (G. poecilochrous). The horseriding was fantastic. The landscape is beautiful with sights of the Chimborazo and farmland. The horses were initially a bit nervous as they had been waiting for us for a bit but they quickly calmed down and were very easy going. Mauricio, the owner of the horses and our guide, told us many interesting facts about the mountains and nature. We had a nice break at a little river in between sheep, where we also saw two nesting places of the curiquinge (aka carunculated caracara or Phalcoboenus carunculatus). The horseback tour ended at the thermal bath of Chimborazo where we had a very relaxing bath in pools of different temperatures. Next, we stopped for a late lunch at San Juan, where we enjoyed typical Ecuadorian food at a very nice resting place of a friend of Renato. It felt like being invited to the house of friends. Lastly, Renato offered to drive us all the way to Baños (for en extra price of course), which we really appreciated. We had very interesting conversations on the way. All in all, we can highly recommend Chimborazo Tours, and in particular the horse-riding tour. One of us is an experiencef rider, the other one a complete novice, and we both enjoyed it a lot.
