Cultural must see museum and artist’s home in Quito.

点评：We had never heard of Oswaldo Guayasamín before we came to Quito. Our visit was a revelation. As a recent reviewer noted, this should be one of the top cultural attractions in Quito. Oswaldo Guayasamín’s paintings are both beautiful and emotionally powerful. He is a deeply empathic artist who captures human suffering and injustice with compassion and hope. The interior of the museum he designed is a triumph of spirit. We learned so much from the English speaking guides at both the museum and the adjacent home where the artist lived until his death. The home which was left as it was when he died is also a must see with an exquisite art collection as well as Pre-Columbian artifacts. The museum is about 20 - 25 minutes from the historic center of Quito and easily accessible by taxi or Uber for a few dollars.
