During my stay at the Grand Resort April 17-21, 2025), I rented a bike from GR Cycling, a company recommended by the resort. Shortly after, I experienced a mechanical issue with the chain, which I carefully inspected and tried to fix. However, GR Cycling later accused me of causing significant damage and withdrew €550 from my deposit.
I’m an experienced cyclist, having ridden over 100,000 km on bikes, and I can assure you that the problem was due to poor pre-existing adjustments, not misuse.
After consulting my bike mechanic, it turns out the hub could have been replaced for just €50, not the €550 for an entire wheel that GR Cycling claims.
Additionally, I was never asked to sign a rental contract outlining terms or responsibilities for damage. This lack of transparency only made the situation worse.
To make matters even worse:
• I lost 2 full days of riding due to this issue.
• I was charged €30 for a basic bike rack that costs the same as purchasing one.
Overall, my experience with GR Cycling was unprofessional and unfair. I strongly advise anyone visiting Greece to avoid this company and rent from a more transparent and reliable provider.
