A really beautiful and interesting little island

点评：A beautiful and interesting little island, great for relaxing, walking and watching the residents and other tourists do what they do. We spent nights there.
The castle has a fascinating history; it’s a shame that tours are no longer available but it was fun to walk around the outside and peer into the windows to see the interesting artefacts still inside. We saw plenty of herons.
Ivy Cottage was a joy to stay in, with lovely home-made food and relaxed, warm hospitality. The cats were wonderfully sociable. The chickens ate our leftovers and produced eggs for us, andI enjoyed seeing them walking around freely outside.
The shop is well stocked and the people running it were lovely. We bought a jigsaw, which my Mum enjoyed doing. And we bought fresh hot soup several times. Despite visiting the shop daily, we sadly never bumped into the Pier Master there, so didn’t get to find out what he might have on offer…. A bit disappointed.
