点评:After driving by a couple of months ago, and noticing this park from the highway, I decided we needed to come check it out. So, we did! We were delighted with the unique and varying personality of the hiking trails—from expansively wide open fields to peaceful treed meadows to light hills spotted with beautiful old growth hard woods. Numerous trails and combinations of trails existed, with maps to suit and to guide. From short to moderate to long, many possible combinations proffer themselves here. We hiked 4-5 miles—mainly, because we tried every trail we could find, (not counting the grass field trails). Once we were tired and ready to relax, the beautiful pond was a wonderful spot to have a picnic lunch. The facilities—although based upon a very old, historic piece of land—were crisply up to date and notably modern, with lots of wood used in the construction to stay true to the outdoors and historical feel of the park. Please note that there are extremely nice vault toilets on site in the parking lot; but that is what they are, no more. We saw no sink or obvious water sources, for washing hands; so, it seems one would be wise to bring hand sanitizer or anti-bacterial wipes, as a must for any food-based recreation in this park. There are at least two covered picnic table areas, one that is particularly enormous (big enough to serve as a small venue). There is also what appears to be a no-expense-spared amphitheater structure, poised before an immense open lawn, a space which could feasibly host considerable events, perhaps only limited by the imagination. The old buildings are fascinating and intriguing, drawing one into the subtle tones of the history of the land, and whispering of its multi-faceted past. There is even a historic cemetery, with its own woeful story. For the kids, there is a “Discovery” trail, to appeal to them. This big little park is a treasure. We are grateful to have found it, and hope it succeeds in every measure.
