点评：My partner and I had the privilege of arranging two full day trips around Lesvos with Tracey of Follow Your Heart Travel Experiences. Each one was outstanding, tailored to fit in as many of the places we wanted to see as possible, with extra treats and locations added by Tracey with her absolutely expert knowledge and love of the island!
On Day 1 we learned much more about the museums and churches and ruins in Mytilene where we were staying, and met lots of Tracey's wonderful friends and their businesses. We then visited the aqueduct at Moria, and the top of Mount Olympus (driving up some unfenced gravel tracks that were a bit like something from a Hitchcock movie, teeth-clenchingly close to the edge, but Tracey had nerves of steel and more importantly, a lot of experience driving!) We drove to Agiassos and ate in town, as well as visiting an ancient chapel.
Everything was picture perfect and beyond exceptional, and would highly recommend it to one and all!
Day 2 we visited the Mandamados Monastery to see the Icon, with some incredibly scenic fishing village stops along the way, with lunch, then were treated to a visit to Kariofyllis Ecofarm, where we were able to get close and stroke deer and a stag, goats, dogs, cats, horses, a donkey, bunnies, birds (many rescues are taken in there) and we learned a lot about it! Very special experience that we definitely wouldn't have found out about ourselves without this tour, and we'll definitely go back! We also visited pottery artisans and an olive wood workshop and shop, learning about craft on Lesvos.
The day concluded with a trip to beautiful Molyvos, and a meander through the vine-ceilinged cobbled streets of the old town, with drinks overlooking a spectacular bay view from up the hill. Driving back, Tracey toured us through Petra too.
At every point she was a fountain of information, as well as being a truly wonderful, kind, generous, thoughtful, wise, compassionate, and fascinating person, with brilliant tales to share and incredible attentiveness to her guests and to her friends on the island.
We were driven to each location in an air-conditioned car, essential during the heatwave! And Tracey was so well-prepared with fresh fruit and veg snacks she had made and gallons of water in a coolbox, despite the intention of stopping in towns to eat!
We have done lots of day tours in various countries because we can't drive ourselves, so for places that are hard to access by public transport it makes more sense to get a guide, and it's always interesting to see how differently people approach this - but Tracey stands out easily by a million miles as the best we have ever had and the nicest person we've met.
Thank you so much Tracey, we can't wait to go back and we hope to see you next year!
