点评:Together with the ferris wheel, the jetty is one of Glenelg’s most distinctive landmarks. There has been a jetty here since 1859, although they have not been without hair troubles. The original jetty had a wooden
lighthouse at the end but it caught fire, destroying everything. The next jetty was swept away in a hurricane and what you see here today was built in 1969.
It stretches 215 metres out to sea and whilst it no longer needs to accomodate boats or ships, it provides a very scenic place to stroll.
We walked right to the end where we stood for a while and looked out across the Southern Ocean. There were plenty of other people doing the same thing. It was surprisingly busy.
The area immediately around the jetty has several other points of interest for tourists. There is the old Town Hall (now a visitor centre), the Pioneer Memorial, the Moseley Beach Club and the ferris wheel.
