点评:We visited Auroville as part of a group tour and had a wonderful local guide who told us about Auroville's history, workings and possible future. He actually lives in the community. And he took the time to show us around and answer specific questions.
The majority of our tour group scoffed (afterwards) at the idea of Auroville but I think it is an interesting concept.
It is a community of 3,500 people and was started in 1968 by Mirra Alfassa (Mother) and Sri Aurobindo with a view to creating a new and different way of living. People from around the world have made their homes here.
No currency, no ownership, no government and heavily into sustainability and community. They have various specialist areas including research into music, sustainability etc..
An interesting idea but I'm not sure they will reach their aim of 50,000 residents. Human nature (e.g. ego) is likely to hinder growth.
A wonderful ideal, though, and well worth a visit.
